Student Agency Book Standards

Students worked in cooperative groups to create book standards that they felt were important to them and their learning. The standards are to ensure their record of learning is at the expected level or above. Here is what the students came up with and agreed to:

Literacy Books:
·         Write neatly, with even spaces, so it can be read
·         Write on the lines
·         No scribbling or doodling
·         Write on every second line (only in draft book)
·         Use a ruler to rule off at the end
·         Use a ruler to rule through mistakes
·         Start at the margin
·         Write with a blue pen, correct with a red pen
·         Write the full date or the dot date (depending on the piece of work)
 Maths Books:
·         One character per square
·         Put the question number to the left of the margin
·         Use a ruler for lines and to rule off
·         Use a pencil to record and rub out mistakes
·         Red pen for marking
·         Write neatly so it can be read
·         Start at the margin under the last ruled line
·         Write the dot date followed by the WALT

Badminton Lessons

Room 7 students were very lucky to take part in badminton lessons today. They started with balloons to get the idea of flicking their wrists and then moved on to using the correct equipment. A great sport.

Science in Room 7

Students across the Year 5 & 6 team have been enjoying a science rotation, taking part in a variety of scientific activities. In Room 7 students had to predict which type of cup and string would allow the sound waves from their voice to travel best to reach their partner on the other end. Lots of fun was had by all along with some good scientific discussions.

Athletics With Manuel

Students in Room 7 practised 'pushing' a large ball first before moving on to following the correct technique for launching a shot put. They all did really well and enjoyed the session with Manuel.
