Oakura School 2022 Room 7 is made up of 32 learners - 31 fantastic students and their teacher. We are all looking forward to a great year in the Year 5/6 team. Our school is situated west of New Plymouth, on the coast. We have an amazing school environment that we really value and we are have a key role in the Predator Free Taranaki initiative. In Room 7 our class motto is 'We choose kind.' Our blog shows what we have been getting up to in Room 7.

Dissecting Mussels
Science is a big part of the programme in Room 7. Today students dissected a mussel to see if they could find the important parts inside. We all learnt lots of fascinating facts and we were all very pleased to be wearing gloves!

Swim Safe Lesson
Room 7 students learnt some valuable lessons with Cecily from Swim Safe today. The main message was:
Your own safety is the most important. If someone is in trouble in the water ring 111 and don't go into the water yourself. Look for something to throw to the person who is in trouble. It could be an empty drink bottle, a lunch box - anything with air in it. If there is a stick handy you could try lying on your stomach while holding the stick with both hands and see if it can reach the person in trouble.
Remember:Your own safety is number one. Get help while keeping yourself safe.

Onesie Day for Autism
Room 7 raised more than $30 towards the autism fundraiser organised by the school council. Here we are in our onesies or PJ's. Fun times.
